Battle of the Fall Cookies 2018

To get more in the spirit of fall, I decided to bake some of the “break and bake” type cookies! It’s been pretty warm near me, so I can’t quite snuggle up with a warm drink under a bunch of blankets, so I wanted to do the next best thing: indulge in the smells and tastes of fall!

There were three contenders for this battle:

Pillsbury Salted Caramel Apple

Pillsbury Pumpkin Cookies (with Cream Cheese flavored Chips)IMG_20181011_102323.jpg

Toll House Maple Walnut

Over the course of three days I baked and ate, both while still warm and gooey, and once cooled. Here’s the verdict.

I was actually the most skeptical of these out of all of them, mainly because of the cream cheese chips. They ended up a nice orange color and my favorite of the three! They were the perfect blend of spices, pumpkin, and fall goodness! They also tasted just as good warm as they did cold. That didn’t carry over with the others.

These were amazing right out of the oven! They were gooey, you could taste all the flavors of the caramel and a slight hint of apple! Unfortunately once they cooled off a bit, the apple flavor was lost to me. They were still good enough to eat all of though.

Toll House Maple Walnut

I had such high hopes for these! I love maple, and I love walnut! But the flavors just didn’t pop for me like the other two. I even ended up only eating a few then bringing the rest of them to work to share because they bombed so badly for me. I think the biggest issue is that they look like they were made with the same base as chocolate chip cookies rather than sugar cookies like the others.

Those cookies are my guilty pleasure. I like the Nestle chocolate chip ones the best!

    1. Definitely ! I’ve bought the tub of chocolate chip cookie dough just because they’re so delicious.

I must admit that I miss these cookies! (gluten-free gall over here) They used to be my go-to when I had no time to bake but wanted a “Fresh” sweet… I can’t believe how many they have now!

    1. Oh no! I have seen some gluten free kinds that are break-and-bake, but not necessarily holiday themed.
