Day 1: Take Time For Yourself
So, here we are! The beginning of the 12 Days of Christmas Self Care! Today’s tip is to take time for yourself, and I’m going to lay out how you can go about taking this time for yourself and how it can help you be more you.
The first thing you want to do is carve out some time to do what you want. Regardless of what that is, give yourself a few hours to the entire day to just do what you want and not what everyone wants you to do.
Since today is a Thursday, if you work full-time, most of that will be spent at work. I’m saying you should be all “screw this, I’m out of here!” but maybe say “no” to that extra bit of work the guy down the hall is trying to pawn off on you.
Once you get home, that’s when you can really kick your shoes off and get into this “you” spirit.
If you don’t have work, then you can start from the time you wake up until the time you go to bed! That sounds fantastic to me.

What YOU Want to Do
It could be reading a book, or watching some movies, or heading out to a museum or driving around to look at Christmas lights. Whatever it is you want to do, that’s JUST FOR YOU, do it!
If you have kids or a family to think about, this can be hard. Maybe you can see about finding a babysitter for a few hours so you can just be alone.

If you don’t have kids, then you should have free reign to do whatever you want. Seriously. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t, or shouldn’t do something (unless it’s dangerous!).
I’ll probably come home from work and hop in the shower, then relax with my heating pad on my shoulders/back, and watch a few videos before I go to bed. I might even write in my journal to decompress a bit since the Christmas season is very stressful for me.
What are you going to do? Do you have any suggestions on what to do with time for yourself? What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re alone?
