Day 12: Relax, Recharge, and Get Ready
On to the final day of Christmas Self Care! I did my 12 days so that the final day is Christmas Eve because even if you don’t do anything on Christmas Eve with family, you will most likely do so on Christmas Day. That way you can do everything leading up to Christmas Day!
So what is it you do on this final day of Christmas Self Care? You relax and wait for the chaos to begin!
Prep for Tomorrow
That means making sure presents are secure for travel, anything that is being brought for dinner has all the ingredients or is already made and sitting in the fridge. Picking out your outfit for the big dinner, checking the weather to watch for snow, making sure everyone knows where to be and when…
Go through a mental checklist of everything you’re going to need for Christmas Day celebrations. Making sure you’re good to go when you have to leave will make everything run smoothly.
Now that you have everything planned out for Christmas Day, all that’s left is to relax. Most Christmas gatherings are a bit chaotic. It may not be Home Alone chaotic, but there’s going to be a large amount of people in one place at one time. That can get out of hand pretty quickly. Especially if alcohol is involved.
So kick back and relax, if only for the time being. The storm is approaching and that storm is all those family members you haven’t seen since last years Christmas dinner!
If you’re an introvert, you’re going to need to do a preemptive recharge before heading into the battlefield that is all that social interaction. While we did have some alone time on Day 1, it’s possible you need another recharge. As I said, the holidays can be hard for people.
Take some time to give yourself some last minute alone time. Prepare for all the socialization you’re going to do. Even if you aren’t an introvert, give yourself one last bit of calm before you’re thrust into all those family members you haven’t seen in a year or so.
What are you doing to prepare for Christmas Day tomorrow? What are you doing to relax and recharge?
